The Beach

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObKpwmZkl24

The site above is somewhat of video examples that helps to give ideas for the short clips..

I found that i enjoyed this video and the video used alot of quick atractive ideas that helped to explain all that is in the movie.....

i may just use some ideas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Using Sony Vagas

trailer ONE

Trailer ONE

Capture 1: Walk through trees, Give emphasis on the green and the trees, allowing the viewer to realise they are in a park like environment.

Capture 2: Find a path in a slow walking speed set the pace no need to rush as your in a park, take in surroundings. it would be great to see building in the far background.

Capture 3: Focus on the river, make the shoot pan across the river (make it a focal point) a couple of seconds really elaborating on this river, the flow should match the slow environment and pace set.

Capture 4: Approach the building still being blurred by the trees, zoom in and really make a statement on how large building is. (is it possible to zoom up the sides of the building)? Have a fast motion about it. I want the audience to feel the rush and size of the building.

Capture 5: once inside really focus on the light do some steady stand still shoots. zoom in and out a little

Capture 6: Pan for stairs is it possible to grab a shot of the avatar or character walking up them and the camera zooming from afar into him walking up them? then camera panning out giving height of stair.

Capture 7: once on walk ways is it possible to focus on all the information that is apparently in the building? maybe some interior shoots over laying pictures/ videos of what you see.

up date

Team Urbans had a discussion with Jeremy and Graham, were we ran through our ideas on what it was we wanted to change for our final assignment. It was advised that we were to really polish up on the external texture; as it was suggested the importance of getting the blocks to the right dimensions, as the human eye will help to convey the overall size of this building. The discussion lead to the idea of where most appropriate the information centre should be located. Either the information centre would be put in an area that was slightly off the main path as the user heads toward the building, surrounded by trees, park like features, and a stone like structure somewhat similar to that of one seen in parks today. The other suggestion was that the information wrap around the internal of the structure, both these ideas were praised and we were told to experiment with them further. Jeremy and Graham agreed that the environment need a little work in regards to the trees and the water that runs throughout the environment, this will help make the environment look more realistic and convey a more atmospheric place to explore

Groups Improvement

There are five areas of improvement that has been discussed, after reading the peer reviews. We as a team believe that adding AI to our design will conger a social atmosphere and will help to portray size to the overall building mass. Having the circulation off human activity will help to express the overall picture being conveyed in this park like environment. Secondly we have discussed the improvement of texture throughout the model helping to create a realistic approach to both the exterior and the interior of the construction. By experimenting more with the models textures we hope to discover the right array of materials to help portray the era and degree off setting. The third improvement that we intend to progress is the water; we intended to make the water flow at a reasonable depth and have a smooth realistic manor towards the surrounding environment. By having improving the interaction of water with the environment we believe will help to convey a peace full park atmosphere. Our forth improvement that we have put thought into is the walk ways within the building, wrapping around the internal part of the dome. By having these walk ways they introduce an inviting area of translation as the visitor will find themselves exploring and discovering meaning towards the building they are inside. The fifth improvement is how we have decided to convey our information centre, we are going to play with the ideas of either having the information written on the walkways that wrap around the internal of the building or a separate garden area that is placed on the side of the path as you head towards the building itself. Both of these ideas will most probably work nicely but we shall experiment with looks in our final product.

Peer Review

Digitalism
Strengths
The whole idea behind the building plays great significance. The entire structure really stands out.
Weaknesses
There could be more usable area, with the structural effect wrapping around the exterior of the building so that the skeleton is still represented and holds resemblance.

Orange
Strengths
The building construction looks somewhat like a ribbon, it has a nice flow with the skyline.
Weaknesses
The surrounding landscape seems to not interact with the design.
Evolve
Strengths
The terrain is awesome, so realistic and represents exactly what it is that is being expressed.
Weaknesses
Its a design that is underground so the idea of no windows in the building makes it feel somewhat claustrophobic. So the use of textures could maybe be used to help with a more calm environment.
Omega
Strength
The diverse use of a culture centre so there is a great amount of ideas that can be played with. (The blessing of the Architects lol)
Weaknesses
A realistic environment will enhance this atmosphere
Atlar
Strength
An Island retreat that helps to generate feelings of escape, a feel of summer and holiday. I felt as though i was a fish in a fish tank.
Weaknesses
I’m not sure... its great. Just cleaning up I guess.

Studio meeting

We meet in Studio Class for a much needed team meeting.. A group meeting was a great time for to us to outline some very important project issues. we have decided to make changes to the design and the environment.as a team we debate and discuss the issue of our design location. the team has decided to change the location from Hyde Park to Regents Park. Still holding significant relevance to for our environment. .Its thought that Regents Park is more suitably as there specified circular, flat plane already exists in the centre of Regents park which we found quiet strange yet very appropriate, and measuring some what the same to fit the Cenotaph. by having the buildings bordering the park it will help to obtain this environment. I will have to find some much need objects to help create this park like environment.

WEEK six- Tom Denson (Psychology)

I found the lecture today inarticulacy interesting as it touched base with a few important aspects in relationship to humans and their behaviour in a group atmosphere.. Social Physiology is based on groups and how they interact. The idea that as a group people tend to conform to the majority adjusting judgment to be similar to others in order to gain approval to that of participants performing alone. It is thought that people provide useful info on how to behave. Discussion making in a team efforts will encourage large amounts of knowledge to circulate within discussion, and encourage the reliability of one’s acknowledgement allowing room for improvement or correction. It is important to remember that groups don’t do well when they do not share knowledge. Group’s polarization is the group’s attitude. Groups tend to get paralysed when they become one minded having a moderate attitude towards a given topic. Most information shared within a group is that of the acquaintance of the individual.

Saturday, April 25, 2009

Micheal found these two pictures of the Cenotaph that someone had modelled in a program off the internet. It helped which helped Micheal and i work out some design problems in modelling it up in ArchiCAD.

The ideas can been seen yet the program seems to dis like the sphere at such a larg scale.

Wikki Pedia- Communication

The page structure is a user friendly interface with a paragraph at the beginning defining the idea of communication. The paragraph gives the viewer overall understanding of what the main topic is about. When scrolling down the page content is noted and is typed in an electric blue font. The first subject in the column in the heading “overview” under this subheading is a more in depth understanding of communication. Towards the end of the content column there is the sub heading references this is a list of where the information is gathered from and has links to the individual web sites. Following this is a list of further readings that are a source of gathered related information. There is sufficient amounts of example photos that help to support the idea of communication.

COMMUNICATION

“Each subculture needs a centre for its public life: a place where you can go to see people and to be seen” A form of communication is that a society has a meeting place to interact with each other. “Throughout history there have been places in the city where people who shared a set of values could go to get in touch with each other. These places have always been like street theatres: they invite people to watch others, to scroll and browse, and to loiter” such places encourage relations within a community.

Alexander, C1977, A pattern language, oxford university press, New York.

CULTURE

“People cannot maintain their spiritual roots and their connection to the past if the physical world they live in does not also sustain these roots” a culture is made up of many people that are at one with each other and live and pass on generations of knowledge. in “society where there are many voices, and many values, people cling to those few things which they all have in common” suggesting that at times a culture is that of society that finds comfort in ideas that are familiar. Opposing to this idea “Mass society not only creates a confusing situation in which people find it hard to find themselves” as the beginning of multiple cultures in a community can increase mixed emotions. Individuals form their own self out of the values, habit and beliefs, and attitude which their society presents them with. In a metropolis the individuals is confronted by a vast tableau of different values, habits and beliefs and attitudes” which are demonstrated by a range of different people supporting the idea of culture in a society.

Progress

Iv done somewhat of my part in regards to the model now.I meet the team at uni Sunday night were i worked on editing pictures for the video capture that has been decided that we do. The images are to go in order regards to our progress over the weeks, documentation is to be taken in regards to the flaws and other errors in which we as a group have come across over the past few weeks. Its important especially to underline the drafts that have been completed in order to allow the stage in which we are up to now.

BUILDING IN ARCHI CAD

The Dome here has been created using the roof tools in Archi-Cad a slab has been added to indicate the massiveness of this sphere the team is to create. I am yet to reverse this idea for the bottom half of the sphere. At the moment there is nothing in Archi Cad that will design this perfectly ill have to instruct elements properties one by one.

The picture bellow shows a view from inside the Dom the size is a better indication here.

example of HUGE

CONTEXT

Context surrounds a language unit and helps to determine its interpretation. Context is a set of facts or circumstances that surround a situation.

Context can be used in our environment through the meanings we as a team are expressing and the ideas in which we are trying to provoke. By laying out the context to the entire group will we discover that the jobs each individual will be completing will have a great in depth understanding of the project as a hole

RECORDS

Records are any document that providing permanent evidence of information about events. Record can provide information of the known facts regarding the facts. Record can be described as document that can serve as evidence of input.

The idea of records within this course is keeping track of the work being done by individuals and the team through blogs. Recorded information throughout the semester or project will provided much need evidence of progression and stages taken throughout the design process of the project.

Ubuilt Australian Architecture

http://www.architectureaustralia.com/aa/aaissue.php?issueid=200701&article=18&typeon=3

These architectural ideas have been influenced by the Australian environment and way of life. Such designs would be of great choosing as they all would use similar techniques and styles making the floor plan easier to but together,

Crysis into 3ds max (Refrenced from Micheals notes)

Step 1.
The first thing you have to do is split up your 3dsmax model into pieces, the reason for this is that crysis doesn't like many groups of objects being exported at once. I believe the number is roughly around 20 elements at once. So we divided the model into 3 main groups. The sphere, the base and the rafters. Then you rename each file and continue to export from there.
Fig 1.) "Base" in 3dsmax
Fig 2.) "Base" in Crysis

Step 2.
Make a new folder in the Crysis folders called "Objects"
eg. C:\Program files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Game\Objects

Step 3.
Because we had designed the model using 3dsmax 2009 in labs, for us to export to Crysis we had to first convert our max files into 3ds files, then import them, then save them as 3dsmax scene files, then save them as .cgf files. Below is a more concise process of what we did.
First install the SDK plug-in
Now in 3dsmax:
Select File > New
New Scene > Select New All
FIle > Import
3ds (3D Studio) import > Select 'completely replace...'
Save in C:\Program files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Game\Objects
Group all objects
Name it the same name you just saved it as
add selected
Export to Gemetry (*.cgf)
Export Nodes

Step 4.
In Crysis:
Create a terrain
Go to objects in your roll over menu (right hand side)
Select Brush
new object you just exported should be in the list
drag it into terrain
